history Mio lived in a hospital for the majority of his childhood. He was infused with the DNA of a Pichu in hopes that it would save his life soon after childbirth, born prematurely without some of his organs developing fully. His parents, not wanting a mutant child, left him for the hospital's keeping. They soon found someone who would take him; however, they would not take him until he reached thirteen years of age and had his mind melded to what they wanted. Thus began his isolation with only the kind nurses for company and the constant videos of performances. When he was a little older with his lungs more stable than they were in his earlier childhood, they began voice lessons. Then, on the dawn of his thirteenth birthday, he met his new 'manager' and 'band mates'. Thus began his rise to stardom, going for a sickly child in the hospital to a crossdressing teen pop idol. He quickly grew in fame as his fanbase sky rocketed. They began international tours which eventually brought him to the Phoenix region. While he was enthusiastic about his work, he soon began to waver as he met a certain someone and... Well, you know how love works. He surprised himself, however, when he found himself feeling a tightening of the chest that wasn't related to his health problems. He never intended to give up his job for a single person, but he never had to make that decision as war erupted over the region. With that person, he hid away in a bunker for the duration of not one but two wars. To say the least, he was surprised to find magic in the air when they were finally allowed to head into the sunlight. He was pleased, however, and quickly found himself enjoying the new world they were in. Mio legally changed his name--or, would it really be considered legal if there were fake I.D.s involved?--completely abandoning his birth name. Kaede who? No, he took on his stage name, Mio, to be his true name. And he became a 'gym leader'. From pop star to gym leader. If you had asked him a few years back, he would have laughed. If you had also asked him if he would ever stop crossdressing before the war, he would have thought you were insane. But, hey, he kept the heels. the other half Due to being a Pichu, electric type moves often have a tendency to come back and bite him in the butt. He has managed to train himself enough that it doesn't zap him each time, but... You can't always win. Also, due to his Lightning Rod ability, it is dangerous for him to be outside while there is a storm. Like, extremely dangerous. Wear rubber. If he allows his emotions to go unchecked, static sparks will begin to fly.
