Battling Battling Pokemon is the best way to level-up, and thankfully, there is a very easy system. Pokemon know all the moves up to their level. This means if you have an growlithe, they know all the moves up to their current level. They do not know TM's and HM's, however, unless you teach those moves to them. All Pokemon also have one Egg Move and ability which aid them in battle. As battling works, even with wild Pokemon and members, you post with your Pokemon fighting. Since we don't track HP, EXP, or anything else, we expect members to be realistic and fair. Likewise, you control the Pokemon you are fighting after staff has given you an encounter. If you try to capture this Pokemon, you leave the chance in your moderator's hands. You cannot decide if you capture the Pokemon, but you can decide if you win the battle or not. This also requires using your best judgement. Example: a level 10 Bulbasaur is going to die against a level 56 Charizard. There is no way that weak Bulbasaur is going to win. So be real about the battles. We expect members to know their own Pokemon's approximate HP. Example: your bulbasaur gets hit with an Ember. Out of 100% HP at first, this Bulbasaur probably dropped below 50%. It is a good idea to track the percentage in a battle so staff will know you are being fair. just taking off 10% no matter what attack hits will not work out well for you. Likewise, if you wish to battle another member, you will need a staff member present to ensure everyone is being fair. This might require deciding who will win or lose before the battle, but we want to keep battling simple. On the same note, if you want to use an item in battle you better have bought it before the battle, because if you plan to buy a Hyper Potion to use in your match against anyone, NPC or not, while the match is going on you are out of luck. In short: be fair, use your judgement, be kind. Level-Up There are several ways to level up: Battling
posting When a Pokemon is involved and active in (a) thread(s) (more than just being mentioned once or twice) it takes 5 posts to level them up one level. If your starter was active in the ceremony, this counts as one post. Events It is possible to gain an auto-level-up in events. These are handed out as prizes. -- In order to level up: ping staff in your thread or via the staff notification board. You may need to link us to the thread or post where you had your Pokemon active, or you will need to show us your battles with other members. In a training thread, this is no problem as staff is there. Still, a reminder is good. You are responsible for editing your tracker in the end, however. Staff will just give verification on the level-up and mention any evolutions that can happen. Evolution Level-up Once you reach the level you need for your Pokemon to evolve, staff will mention the evolution and you can chose to go through with it or cancel. if they need to know a move before evolving through level up, make sure they know it. Happiness true or false happiness, as long as you have had the Pokemon for a while and have used them in threads and battles they can evolve. If you are curious if you can evolve them yet, contact staff or ask your moderator. Time of day In this case, tell staff you want to evolve your Pokemon and be sure your thread is the time of day you need. Item get the item and contact staff so they can make it official. If this item requires trade, who cares, just contact staff. Trade just tell staff you want your Pokemon to evolve. No need to trade with anyone. |
