WHY?: All the Vanderbeck's children were given nicknames that ended with 'berry' so the peasants of their region could not address them by their first or last name. AGE: Twenty three. PERSONALITY: OVERALL: Gooseberry is a strange character, but not quite. He is strange in the concept that he actually doesn't mind hanging around peasants, after all- he did use to play ball with the children of the city rather than aristocrats. So the fact that royalty doesn't mind being around peasants does deem him a bit strange but not as much as others. But like all royalty, he can be a bit prissy. Or well, very. With a well mannered and proper attitude, he tends to come off as such- most of the time. Though he does have a prissy attitude, he can be quite respectable to other people. Which is odd, considering that some royalty do not think they have to be such to anyone. Yet like some others, Gooseberry isn't quite the talker. Usually wrapped to much in technology to even consider it some of the times. |
HISTORY: OVERALL: Born as the third child in a family with five children, Gooseberry was literally the middle child but the only son. Name being Zdzisław Zacherie Vanderbeck, given the -berry name of Gooseberry. As for his family? A large royal family with three branches, each branch running a different region. You see, Gooseberry's mother had two sisters- all were married off to the heir of each of these regions. His aunt, Cynthia Vianelli, married the heir and now king to the Vainelli throne of the Vianelli region. They had Bertha and Sylvester. Sylvester being the only son and a heir to the throne, pretty much an only child his whole life until Bertha came along. She is currently five, a cubone gijinka that his parents had to have. Their region, a small one which is separated from others by miles and miles of ocean but close to the Vander's region and the Wohlstand region. Second most strict and hostile. Then there is his other aunt, married to heir of the Wohlstand region. No children, quite young and the king and queen of that region is still alive. A small war was fought between Wohlstand and Vander though, due to the way they run their region so they aren't on good terms. Vianelli wasn't caught in the middle though. The most lenient out of the three. Then there is the Vander region. Most strict out of them all and the queen, Gooseberry's mother, is the eldest out of her sisters. She has five children and an elderly father. A very controlling lady who loves to shelter her children and keep them protected, despite Gooseberry managing to slip away onto his own. He being her only son and heir to the throne of the Vander region. Currently things have settled down between the Vander and the Wohlstand, but the Vianelli's have a bit of difficulty keeping their son's eyes off of one of the Vander's daughters. Even though it is Sylvester's cousin. Now how exactly does this all even relate? Well the king and queen of the Vander, Vianelli and Wohlstand region have come together in search to trade and make better business with other regions. So after bickering between the royal families, they decided Phoenix would be the best place to do it since they also have a monarchy system. Despite their own twisted ways of a monarchy. So the royal families were recently brought here, with their children. So that be the reason for the small history section and mentioning of such regions. Now as for Gooseberry's own history and how he is fairing in all this mess? Well as mentioned, he was born a middle child. So he wasn't kept watched on most constantly but still of great concern, being the only heir and all. For the most part, his less sheltered personality than his siblings are the cause of this. Pretty much playing ball with the citizens, who were filthy and his mother called mutts, it was clear Gooseberry didn't care about social classes at a could age. That slowly began to change as time went on, sadly. Mostly because of how his mother and teachers began to raise him. Being forced to play with the aristocratic children who he thought were to rough and competitive- compared to the children that were citizens who only wanted fun away from stress. It made Gooseberry rather upset but didn't complain. Slowly but surely as he clambered into his teen years, which pushed him more distant from the children. Due to everything he was suppose to be doing and such. What ruined that was the Vander-Wohlstand war. Gooseberry, being the strange fifteen year old he was, decided to through himself into the war. His mother to stressed to care what he was doing and such but when she found out, she was worried and panicked. How she found out? Her 'precious little son' being brought back to her without arms or an eye from the battlefield. Despite the war not being long and not that major, it had its violent times. Gooseberry was caught in multiple but that was the worse. What he went through during this time left him with a slightly darker side along with night terrors. He managed to get some nice machine-like arms and a glass eye, both which he enjoyed when he got them. At this time, he was given Miss Paint too. A Glameow to cheer him up, but she soon evolved. Thus Gooseberry was introduced to Puruglies, absolutely falling in love with the species. Gaining Dutch and Dutchess over time. Despite Miss Paint being Shiny, Gooseberry loved the original forms too. Things settled down before the talk of trade was brought up. That being what brought Gooseberry, his four siblings and his family to Phoenix. |
