history Birth was never something he had the privilege of experiencing. No, Kuranosuke was created. He was a mere test subject in a project held by a group of old, experienced, power hungry scientists. They had two samples of DNA, that of human and that of a Ninetales. Splicing the two together, they put it inside a human egg and then into a machine that would allow the egg to grow. They watched for ten years as the egg grew, changing into a fetus, into an infant, a toddler, and finally into a child. As a fetus, there were nine tails instead of the usual single tail a human child starts out with in the womb. Two triangular ears formed as well, though they were folded against his head. As an infant, more features showed, such as fur on his ears and tails, small claws, and silvery hair. The eye color was uncertain. The toddler stayed relatively small with most of the growth occurring in the tails. As a child, movement was detected. His organs, having been the slowest to develop, were deemed fully functional, and his heart was beating almost twice as fast as a normal human. They took note of this, but they didn't seem too concerned. At age ten, he woke up. The first sign was the swishing of his tails and a flick of the ear. Then his eyes fluttered open. He uncurled from his fetal position, frowning at the scientists who crowded around him. The liquid keeping him afloat and providing him with nutrients slowly drained, and he had to place his hands on either side of the glass to keep himself from falling to the ground. But then the glass was removed, and he fell forwards into the awaiting arms. The years passed him by as he continued to grow. He was taught many of the basics while he was in the laboratory: how to speak, write, read, and walk. That was really all they focused on, and he had to find other education elsewhere (which usually consisted of him doodling with his claws on the wall or raiding the books scattered around him). His first venture outside had been quite the culture shock to the boy. You mean the world didn't revolve around the lab? There was more to see? Talk about a midlife crisis. Kuranosuke wasn't given the luxury of staying inside the laboratory all his life. No, he was sold off, probably to pay for the debt the men piled up during the project. His new master was the leader of the Black Jokers, and he was instantly put to work. At first, he was all about trying to please his new master, the loyalty instilled in him from his Pokemon side ruling out any and all doubts about what he was doing. Gather information, take out a guy here and there--it was all easy grunt's work. Yet, he followed each and every order, carrying out his tasks with ease... He even found himself a faithful, if not sassy, friend in a Persian who aided him when he found himself lost in a town. His work ethic started to waver once he was forced to deal with the Pokemon league. He challenged the first gym leader on orders to obtain information and to watch their movements. While he passed with relative ease due to type advantages, he found himself poisoned. The gym leader was kind enough to help him, but that's unimportant. The turning point in his career was when he met the champion of the time, a man named Shi with an addiction to the color purple. They became quick friends, even if Kuranosuke originally went in with the plan of, you know, actually doing his job. But, he started wavering, enjoying his time with the human rather than doing his job. This got him into trouble once he was caught by grunts who were then forcefully kicked out of a cafe, only to go crying back to the boss. On the bright side, he obtained a Vaporeon who didn't have the best personality in the world. After that, his master forced him to go on a mission that would keep him away from the towns and from getting too comfortable with the Pokemon League. Many months passed until he was able to meet up with the Champion once more. One thing led to another and Kuranosuke found himself trapped inside a Pokeball (ahem, Luxury Ball to be more specific). His entire being was altered as the capsule rewired his genetic coding and his mind, removing all loyalty he once had to the Black Jokers and forming a strong, unwavering loyalty towards the purple loving human. He was forced to remain with the human since the capture, though you probably can't force someone to do something they would do willingly in the first place. This marked his unofficial resignation from the Jokers. Yet, you cannot simply quit something that you were sold into. He found himself captured by a group of grunts who forced him farther than he was allowed to comfortably go away from his Pokeball. He was weakened immensely as migraines clouded his judgement and senses, and he could barely fight back as a shock collar was clasped around his neck. They took him as far as they could before they were attacked by a large, green serpent from the sky. The fox had been saved by a Rayquaza, one who, like him, was an experiment, cloned from the genetics of the true sky dragon. Yet, this one acted more like a Growlithe than a fearsome dragon. It took him over a month to return back to Meadow Town, having to first find a way to remove the collar (though the damage had already been done) and to figure out what to do with the dragon. In the end, he just took the clone with him, figuring it wouldn't seem too weird for a fox man to ride a dragon into town. Nope. Definitely not. He ended up clinging to his master once he returned, deciding it was much safer and more comfortable to be around the human than to wander off and possibly get mugged again. There was only a small period of happiness, however, as it was announced that the king had been slain. The monarchy came crumbling down as a civil war broke out. Kuranosuke tried his best to stay out of it, wanting to protect his own rather than deal with everyone else. He found out that would never happen as Yveltal was awoken, soaring over the sky and leeching the life out of everything he passed. From one war to another, he had to do something. The fox enlisted in the army, though the humans were wary about allowing a Gijinka into their ranks, especially since the Dark Ones and the Elves seemed to have many already within theirs. Eventually, they agreed. His training was quick, mainly consisting of him learning how to wield a sword (he knew how to fight already, and guns were not his style). The war raged on, and Kuranosuke began to regret making an attempt to help. His dear Persian was slain in battle, and his Vaporeon fell shortly after. Enraged, he continued on, his vision turning red with anger and bloodlust. At one point, he completely abandoned the thought of using his sword, turning feral on the battlefield and scorching the earth with his flames. This reckless battling would have gotten him killed as he charged towards the battling legends. Yveltal had turned on him after knocking back Xerneas, charging up his Oblivion Wing, but the Rayquaza blocked the path of the beam, attacking with its own Hyper Beam. Yet, the Harbinger of Death was too strong, and the dragon perished. The legend no longer had any interest in the fox as the soldier fell to his knees before the fallen dragon's head. The war soon ended and the armies retreated to their new territories. Kuranosuke remained on the battlefield, carrying the limp, bloodied forms of his Persian and Vaporeon to where the dragon rested, surrounding them with dry wood, before igniting the wood with his flames. He sat there, watching as the flames engulfed his Pokemon. He waited a few days until the flames died out, leaving nothing but ash and the scorched earth. He returned to what was once Meadow Town, only to find that his master was no where to be seen, not even a single trace of him or his Pokemon. No scent, no sign, no remains. He was completely, utterly alone. He would have remained that way, too, sinking deeper into the depths of despair, had it not been for a pink snout that wormed its way out of the rubble. Out came a Snubbull, lost, confused, and dearly frightened, yet the young Pokemon was quick to rush toward the fox and cling to his uniform. He took the young fairy in his arms and held her, staying like that until both of them had calmed down. Kuranosuke didn't know what to do with himself for the longest time. He kept the Snubbull with him, protecting the frightened thing to the best of his ability. In return, she provided the much needed comfort and companionship he desired, always pulling him out whenever he sunk into the darkness of his mind. Along the way, he acquired a Tauros as well, one who had seen his entire herd be slaughtered during the war when he was just a calf. The trio wandered aimlessly before Kuranosuke finally decided he needed to get his life back on track. He began helping the humans rebuild. They were wary at first, and some flat out turned him away. Yet, his persistence broke through and they, reluctantly, allowed him to help. Many years passed him by when he started noticing that the crime rate in a land of little to no government began to rise. Like any former criminal, he decided to help out. Oh, but, he wasn't about to help the rising number of gangs or anything. Heavens, no! He knew the ropes, he had a good nose, and he was strong. He was going to wrangle some outlaws! And, no, he did not become a southern ranger. He had a little too much pride for that... Even though he often likes to ride around on the Tauros since he's faster than Kuranosuke was. Ahem. So, he has dubbed himself the newest sheriff in town, even if he's already been going at it for a couple of years. At least he has built up some amount of trust between himself and the handful of what is left of humanity on Phoenix. Ah, who is he kidding? He's mainly just looking for leads to find his missing master, still hoping that he's alive even after all these years. the other half Kuranosuke has a lengthened lifespan due to his Ninetales blood, giving him a couple extra centuries to experience. He has since ceased to age, yet his hair and nails continue to grow if he does not keep them in check. He was blessed with heightened senses, strength, and speed, giving him an advantage when fighting with non-Pokemon or when tracking. A fire burns deep within, raising his body temperature to just beyond one hundred degrees Fahrenheit, warm to the touch and keeps him from freezing in colder climates. Embers are often exhaled whenever he gets riled up, and his eyes begin to glow whenever he prepares a non-physical attack.
