She watched the river bubble by. Calm, peaceful. How quaint. Toril had left her bookshop in order to explore the land of the Dark Ones, to see what they had to offer in terms of possible companions. This was as far as she had come so far, to the Black River. The woods had been easy enough to get past while avoiding fire types, and she just stayed out of the Caverns. Now here she was. The famous Black River she had read about in her studies. The water was said to lull those that touched it into a sleep, then they would die peacefully. Toril wasn't going to test that fact. She was sure there would be plenty of... willing Pokemon around that would love to jump into the water for her. She turned on her heels and walked adjacent to the river. Her usually flowing cloak had been pinned up by a decoration made from her own ice. Her hair was up too, pinned tightly with an ice-made pin. How fortunate it was to make her own clothing. She walked peacefully and stayed quiet for the most part, her eyes peeled for any Pokemon she would encounter. Toril was in need of strong partners to assist her in hunts and to be companions to her most quiet of hours. She was a very picky woman. Only the best would do. -- Toril, Froslass Female || Level 15 || Cursed Body ||Avalanche Health: 100% No status conditions. No notes.

The water was deadly and dangerous. No creature could survive in such conditions. So then, why was there a Magikarp that had just jumped out of the water and was flopping around like surviving in one of the most cursed rivers was a normal thing? Toril gave it nary a glance and kept moving. Strange. Perhaps the creature was filled with this 'dark magic' or what not. And- there it was again. Further up this time. The fish flopped around and made 'karp' noises. How... Toril didn't even know. She passed the fish for the second time and kept moving down the river. Now back to her train of thought. She needed to find Pokemon--regardless of their magic level--that would assist her in... that fish was up ahead this time, sticking its head out of the water, gaping like a fool. Was it asleep? Dying? No... the fish jumped out of the water again and splashed in the mud. Toril came to a stop and crossed her arms, glaring down at the fish. "So?" she said with a firm voice, "What is it then? You have attempted to stop me and here I am." The Magikarp flopped once, twice, then stilled. Then she began again, flopping like she had always flopped before. Once, twice, thrice, so on and so forth into the days. Toril, agitated, walked ahead once again. This time the fish followed her. Annoying. Toril couldn't and wouldn't carry a fish with her everywhere she went. There was no tank back at the bookshop anyway. But still the fish followed. She froze the ground behind her, watching the fish slide back into the cursed river, but the fish followed. Silently through the water it came, her fin sticking up. It, her, she, they, whatever the fish was. Toril believed it to be a she but then again she would not give a fish that type of respect. She ate fish. "Go away," she growled as she kept her gaze straight ahead. She heard a 'karp' in return, and the fish followed. After another ten minutes of this childish game, Toril came to a stop and sighed. She looked at the fish, before stepping forward. The fish swam ahead, then stopped. Twice, again. Thrice, again. Over and over again. "If you want to come along, then you must follow me on land once I leave here. I will not touch you." With that, Toril stomped ahead in the dead grass. The Magikarp stayed in the water, and thought. -- Toril, Froslass Female || Level 15 || Cursed Body ||Avalanche Health: 100% No status conditions. Capture attempted.

What was that horrible smell? It rose to her nostrils and made her flinch. It was awful, that much she could tell. But what was its source? She would freeze it and spare any others from the horrid scent. Toril had smelled bad things in her life, in fact, she was used to rotting bodies stinking up the place if she didn't freeze them as well as she thought, but nothing like this. She came to a stop and looked around, trying to locate the scent. It appeared to be getting stronger by the second. That horrid smell growing thicker and thicker. Toril felt like she could cut it with a knife. Sharp fangs came down upon her leg and she let out a cry, kicking the creature off. That disgusting thing touched her! She stood back, her heels at the edge of the cursed water. Ice gathered at her hands. The trash bag gave a growl and then waved his arms around, shutting his mouth. His fangs barely pierced her thick and ice cold skin, but it still hurt like hell. She arched her fingers slightly and then quickly flicked them at the trash bag. The Pokemon dodged, and where it formally stood was a small pile of ice that twisted around itself. "How annoying," Toril growled at the Pokemon, jumping away before it could bite her again. It tore her dress, however. The Trubbish gurgled and spit up a dark purple ball of sludge and shot it at her. Toril shot her hands out in front of her and jumped to the side, the frozen ball of poison slamming into the ground and shattering. She flicked her fingers again and froze one of the Trubbish's feet to the ground. The trash bag let out a cry and broke his feet free and charged for her again. Toril jumped to the side and let the bag drop into the water. She crossed her arms and watched it struggle. Soon it fell into a deep sleep and drifted down the river. "Miserable little beast." She repaired her dress and kept walking. -- Toril, Froslass Female || Level 15 || Cursed Body ||Avalanche Health: 83% No status conditions. No captured attempted.

This thing, it was in her literature. She watched the bug float over the river, not making a single move. Everything told her that peering into its hollow back stole your soul, but that was nonsense. If it was true, then the trainers that dared to take this thing under their wing would have been soulless walking zombies. The lore was interesting however. They just suddenly appeared according to what Toril had read. The only ability, Wonder Guard, was effective for their low HP. That and Toril liked how quiet and still they were. A perfect partner for the library, yes? She walked towards the water and stopped at the edge, crossing her arms. The bug still floated there, having not even twitched. How did someone talk to a piece of shed skin anyway? The bug seemed to not have any sort of personality to speak of, or if it did it certainly wasn't showing it. At any rate, she would love to have a partner. This one was quiet, didn't have any quirks that would make a mess. Probably obedient if she could just get its loyalty. That posed a problem. How did Toril do that? She was grateful the strange Magikarp left her be, but this Pokemon? What a pity to lose it. "Join me," she said bluntly. "Must be boring out in these woods." That probably wasn't going to work at all. These things weren't known for being happy about much of anything according to get books. "I wouldn't mind having some quiet company. I won't force you, of course, but if you do decide to come along, then I can promise you will have plenty of souls. If you actually do take them, of course." She was talking to a dead bug. Oh joy. She felt like an idiot. Still, this species intrigued her. There were so many tales and stories about them in ancient literature. -- Toril, Froslass Female || Level 15 || Cursed Body ||Avalanche Health: 83% No status conditions. Capture attempted!

The Shedninja floated forward towards Toril. The Gijinka smile. Now that's better. "Lovely. You are free to wander as you wish, there is no Pokeball keeping you captive." It didn't seem to care. It didn't seem to care about anything. Oh well, indifference was bliss. "I'll call you Banshee for now. Are we in agreement?" Banshee just floated there. "I'll take that as a yes." Toril turned to walk further down the bank in search of more partners for her home, and perhaps training for herself. Banshee waited a few moments before it followed Toril, silently floating behind. A flurry of bat wings was the only thing Toril noticed before she felt something gnawing at her frozen skin. The white fangs of the bat trying their best to pierce her arm. It tore her dress. Toril watched it, feeling her energy go down, but she focused more of her own health on refreezing her arm. Now the fangs only pushed her skin down slightly, never breaking past the icy exterior. Her health stopped going down, Toril taking to watching the bat. "Can I help you?" she asked. The Golbat looked up at her. She gave a bright smile and pushed off of Toril. "I wanna come!" she said happily before she went back to gnawing on Toril's arm. "Mmph nurph gurph!""Please do not talk with your mouth full." Toril waited until the fangs were off of her skin before she refroze her arm again. This was draining. "You're not dry yet!" The bat said. "I never met any friends that didn't die!"Toril raised an eyebrow and decided not to correct the bat. "How... interesting. I'm part Froslass, my skin is coated in layers of ice which makes it difficult to penetrate. But it still hurts, mind you." She rubbed her arm. Parts of her skin had turned a little pink regardless of how much she had froze it over. "Can I come, please please please?""If you wish to join you must work," Toril said. "I don't accept lazy Pokemon. You must help me tend to my bookshop and protect me when I am injured." She chewed on the inside of her lip. "And I can pay you in victims- I mean toys, you can chew on whenever you please." Her freezer was getting a little stuffed. The bat landed on a nearby fallen branch and stared at her. "But that sounds like hard work.""That is the point."-- Toril, Froslass Female || Level 15 || Cursed Body ||Avalanche Health: 72% No status conditions. Choice left for Golbat.

She sat down on the rock and crossed her leg. In front of her was Banshee, who floated silently in the air and every now and then dodged Dory's gleeful bites. Dory was sitting on the ground and was staring up at Banshee with a large, goofy grin. Toril felt sickened by it. Regardless, Golbats had a nice final evolution, now if she could just bond with the bat enough to force it, then she would have a powerful ally. At the moment, however, Toril was more worried about the river. She had walked for a while but had yet to grow stronger. Her health was beginning to drain and she needed to at least strengthen her abilities. She also needed to train these two blubbering fools, or one of them. Banshee seemed to agree with Toril's personality more, whereas Dory... Toril would have to grow used to her. A movement caught Toril's eye. She turned her head slightly and saw the Ducklett. Toril then had a face full of water. She spit some of it out and wiped her face free of it. Thank goodness she had worn water-proof make-up that day. She rose from her sitting position, but the duck was upon her. He nibbled at her shoes before he tried to nab one. Toril watched him with little no no humor. She raised an hand, before she calmly brought it down. Her two Pokemon watched, until a giant ball of snow smacked itself on the Ducklett's head. Toril took a step back from it and freed herself from the snow before she held up her hand again, prepared to use another Avalanche. The duck burst through the snow but Toril was ready. She stepped to the side and the Wing Attack brushed by her. She moved her hands in front of her and shards of ice formed in the air before shooting themselves at the duck. Some of them hit him in the wings, the others missed. The duck squirt water out again in another Water Gun. Toril spit again and wiped her face free, before another blast of water hit her. This was agitating. She moved her hands again and hit the duck with another Avalanche. The duck was hit with twice the damage as before. Toril smirked. This one was easy. She dodged another Water Gun and used another Ice Shard. The duck dodged and came at her with another wing attack, but Toril was faster. She used another Ice Shard and the bird fell. Much better. She poked him with her foot, making sure he was down, before she turned on her heels and strut back down the river, her two Pokemon following. -- Toril, Froslass Female || Level 15 || Cursed Body ||Avalanche Health: 52% No status conditions.
