It felt as though it had been much longer since Conn had last been to one of these celebrations than he actually had, but he didn’t hold onto that feeling for very long. It was easy not to. The room was crowded, and loud, and there was so much to take in. It was exciting to watch the mixed interactions, the tensions and relief present in party goers of all different backgrounds.
Parker and Columbo were with him, as always, but safely tucked away in their pokeballs. Otherwise it would be almost inevitable that they'd cause trouble in closed and crowded quarters. While resulting chaos had proven useful (or fun, at least) before, he always preferred that to be by design rather than inevitability.
If Conn managed to entertain himself through mischief tonight, it would ideally (for him) be more a result of emotional manipulation as opposed to vandalism.
Of course, his only real practice was with fellow humans. He really had no idea about elves or dark ones aside from horror stories whispered by children, let alone what strings might be best to tug on with them.
Sal was the only pokemon who stood close by his side, her gaze and posture far more suspicious and guarded than her human's, though Conn didn't seem terribly bothered by the braixen's tension. She knew better than to attack in a populated area unless she felt either of them were truly in danger, anyway. @taghere

| | It was loud. It was crowded. And Raito had no choice. Back when he actually had a position of power in the underworld, he would have organized a look-a-like to be here instead, telling Raito what was happening through a small hidden radio in the ear. Sadly, he didn't have any of that anymore. All he had was his position in keeping peace among humans and Dark Ones. That was why he was here, to make sure none of the Dark Ones got sick, or hurt, or bothered during this gathering. He looked for his partner, the one that worked with the elves. He didn't seem them, oh well. They must have been chatting with a general or something.
Chiaro trotted by Raito, growling at anyone that got too close. Raito stood awkwardly, looking around every guest to try and find a place to go. Without warning, Chiaro darted off after something. Raito shouted at him to heel and the dog skidded to a stop, letting the small mouse scurry by someone with bright red hair. Raito walked over to Chiaro and shook the back of his head gently and scolded him, before looking up at the person Chiaro almost ran into. "My apologies," Raito said. He took in the Pokemon. This person must be a trainer or a breeder. He was human, obviously. Finally, someone of the same species.

Everything was going just fine until Conn was almost run over by a mightyena. He braced without even thinking of it, hard to discern whether out of habit or just instinct. No impact came. He lowered his arms, watching the owner discipline the dog. A dark type, but his owner didn't look like a dark one. Okay, that might be interesting.
He hadn't even gotten to do anything yet, so it was easy to assume whatever that was, it wasn't anything personal. Connor could barely hear the apology over Sal's snarl at the dog. Green eyes glinted under a simple copper mask with subtle engraving.
His tension melted with little effort, his lips tugging into what would seem to most to be a genuine smile. Easy. His voice trickled out smoothly, "It's fine, no damage done." Sal's snarl didn't falter, and Conn repeated himself calmly without even looking at her, "Really, everything's fine." The fox quieted, but kept her stare locked onto this new arrival until the mightyena was returned, looking away sharply.
"It was nice to see someone genuinely excited, actually." Conn said, almost as if disappointed. This man really did seem human, but he had known many humans with an aversion to dark types.
Maybe, just maybe, this could be fun. Raito Manzuelo

| | Chiaro ignored the fox, looking up at Raito, his tongue hanging out, his lips twitched up in a smile. His tail wagged faster. Raito raised an eyebrow at the dog, knowing it wasn't seen due to the mask. Oh well. Chiaro got the idea when Raito didn't give him a pat on the head. Excited? Raito looked around. The place was full of tension, so he supposed that was true. Chiaro had always liked chasing small things though, pinning them under his paws so he could pick it up and take it back to Raito to show off.
"I suppose so," Raito muttered, giving Chiaro another look before he focused on the stranger. "You seem human enough, what brings you to this gathering?" Unlike Raito, he was pretty sure this kid had no real reason... scratch that. He didn't have to be here. Oh well. At least dealing with a human was much better than Dark Ones. Raito was getting sick of seeing them every damn day. Making peace with them was like trying to tell a lion they couldn't eat meat right in front of them. 'I know you want to kill all humans and elves, but just hold on a second, ok, friend' never went very well. At least they liked Chiaro enough.
