LOVE YOURSELF TO DEATH get mine and make no excuses waste of precious breath Parker rolled one round, grass flattening under the force of her weight and building momentum as she moved in a speedy half circle. She felt the weight of the herdier making contact with the ground with the first contact, unfurling with confidence only to see the dog coming at her again.
She couldn't react fast enough to move, completely unprepared. Instead, she snapped into a tightly shut defense curl with a dismayed cry, rolling back only a short distance with the movement.
Conn didn't flinch or make any kind of noise to signal disappointment or alarm. "Are you alright, Parker?" His voice held a level of calm, fully intended for her comfort. He waited for her answer, all of his focus on his own pokemon in that moment.

As soon as his teeth came in contact with the blue hide, Mimi backed off. He hoped he didn't leave a mark. He sat down, waiting for another order from Leo, but nothing came for a few moments. Leo walked over to them, kneeling down to rub Mimi's ears. "You did very well," Leo said in praise. Mimi barked in joy but gave a whine right after. "Is she alright?" He waited, but Nemo barreled over and skidded to a stop, the sheep running from his charge, right between them. The Mareep, in sheer terror, gathered around Leo's legs and bayed at him to make Nemo stop growling at them. With a hand held up, Leo gave Nemo a look and the Nidorino calmed down, sitting on the grass. The sheep stopped their baying and began to nibble at the grass at Leo's feet, Rose trotting over to them.
"Is it time for lunch already?" he asked his Pokemon. Rose snorted, Nemo roared, and Mimi whined at the Phanpy. "Well then, would you like to join us for lunch Connor? I live past the hill over there. I have plenty for your Pokemon too." In truth, Leo had bought too much food at the store a few days ago and it would start going bad soon. He needed to cook as much as he could to get rid of it then head back to get more. He hoped the new block of ice he ordered from a shop in town would be here soon. Keeping meat was hard with out it.

LOVE YOURSELF TO DEATH get mine and make no excuses waste of precious breath Parker rolled back out of her defense curl, though not so far as to completely abandon the herdier friend. She emitted a sad rumbling that didn’t even reach a trumpet noise, but moved towards Conn when he ushered to her, leaving Leo and Mimi somewhat behind.
Conn knelt when she was near to him, testing the area where she had been bitten carefully while she made a low trill. When he let go, she shook herself and moved to “grab” his wrist with her trunk. He stopped his move to stand, letting her hold onto him for a moment while he glanced at Leo. “Your herdier is well trained; I think it’s her pride hurt more than anything.” At the sound of the baying mareep, Conn looked up. Aw, that was cute.
Parker saw the mareep too, and let go of Conn to run back up to Mimi and the little sheep, trilling excitedly at the sound of the word ‘food.’ All better, it seemed. She was fickle that way. Conn hesitated for a moment, but it melted in the face of his phanpy’s excitement. “Yeah, that sounds great. Lead the way and we’ll follow.” He said softly as Parker tooted excitedly at Mimi.

Leo beamed in pride at the comment about Mimi, and the dog picked up on it. Leo was proud of his new team. It wasn't nearly the same as his former team, but it was still his family. Oh, and the sheep too. They were part of it. Leo took Rose's bridle and held them firm, the horse giving a snort. Carefully, Leo led her through the Mareep, the sheep baying at Leo for food, following him and clogging up the placed Rose needed to step. Mimi barked wand began to herd the sheep towards the house, barking again in an invention for the Phanpy to follow him. Nemo ran after the dog, making sure none of the sheep strayed away from the rest of the group. Leo then followed, taking his own pace while holding onto Rose's reigns, leading her over holes in the mud or slushy looking places.
Then there was the question on what to eat. Eh, he would let the guest decide and then get cooking. Leo prided himself on his ability to cook pretty quickly, and still thoroughly cook everything.

LOVE YOURSELF TO DEATH get mine and make no excuses waste of precious breath Parker followed after Mimi happily, trumpeting as she followed. She stumbled once, and then switched into a weak rollout once it became a bit hard to keep up with the speed of the dog pokemon. Still, she seemed pretty happy, so Conn finally decided that maybe this wouldn’t be so bad. As long as Parker managed not to accidentally trample one of the mareep, anyway.
He kept pace with the rest of the group, but also kept a short length of distance from them. He assumed it would be a little better that way; one less individual to risk being tripped on or tripped over. Better to admiring the large group moving as one from a distance, really, all while keeping an eye on where he was stepping himself. Back home, letting all his pokemon out at once only ever spelled cause for mayhem. Of course, that had its uses and purpose! Here, though, not quite so much. It was interesting, at least, to see a group that coexisted so well.
And, well, Parker seemed comfortable with them, so they couldn’t be too bad. Conn usually agreed, at least for a while, with her taste in people and pokemon.

As they neared the house, Leo let out a shrill whistle. The Mareep began to slowly turn to go to their stalls that were protected by high rising barbwire that covered the whole fence. The very bottom of the fence itself had rocks all around, to keep creatures from burrowing under. When they got into the structure that was protected from both wind and rain, Leo poured out plenty of feed and refilled the water buckets before closing the door. He did a head count from one of the small windows, making sure he could see every sheep in the large enclosure. Once he counted three times, he locked the door and began to unsaddle Rose. He placed her saddle and bridle in the shade to dry, wiping her down with a cloth before letting her wander through the front yard, grazing. He put feed and water out for her in buckets, held up by some hooks one the side of the small barn.
After Rose was situated with her feed, Leo smiled at his visitors. He opened the door to the small cabin and went in, Mimi holding it open with his paw so everyone could wander inside and sit down. Leo didn't really speak. He got out pots and pans, turning the stove on. Then he scrubbed down his hands in warm water he had handy and in lye soap before he got to work chopping up vegetables and meat. Nemo jumped onto a worn looking couch and settled down, watching the guest. Mimi sat by the door, ready to help if asked, his tail wagging. The home looked bigger on the inside. The walls were the natural wood, polished and varnished to shine. The floors were the wood too, some of it covered by homemade carpets and blankets. There weren't many decorations, but a few flower vases sat on tables pressed against the wall. There were plenty of chairs to sit in, and one of them looked more worn than the others, situated in front of a fireplace. The only other doors were closed, one leading to the bedroom, one to the bathroom, and the other to a closet.

LOVE YOURSELF TO DEATH get mine and make no excuses waste of precious breath Conn admired the house when it came into view. He was tempted to ask Leo if he had bought or built it, but managed to refrain; he felt like that might be considered rude, and wasn't interested in risking offending Leo so soon. He hadn't planned far enough ahead on travel today, and even a small meal would do him a lot of good here. Even better, for all his scars and tattoos Leo just didn't seem at all scary to Conn. Looking at the house, he decided (at least for the moment) it was unlikely the guy had a secret cellar full of contraband or bodies. Another thought that probably wouldn't be taken as a compliment if said out loud.
He jumped at the sound of the shrill whistle, and found himself content to sit back and watch. It was interesting, but he didn't know the first thing about taking care of ranch pokemon in this context. Even if it felt appropriate to offer, he felt like he'd be more underfoot than any actual help.
Parker tooted forlornly as the mareep went obediently into their stalls and the doors closed. Aw, she never got to play with them! Conn casually stepped in front of her before she could get any ideas about rolling in for one last interaction, not turning from watching Leo. He needed her to behave, if just for a little while.
Conn followed Leo inside, taking a moment to look around. It was pretty nice. Parker followed once she noticed she was being left behind, tooting happily at Mimi once inside and following him, nudging the dog when he stopped moving. Connor dug into his bag, releasing Columbo from his pokeball within a few moments. "Keep her polite, yeah?" The small blue elephant tooted once, running up to join Parker and calling out softly at Mimi in greeting rather than trumpeting again.
The breeder followed Leo into the kitchen, watching him. Meat and veggies looked good, but it tugged at him. "Is there anything I can do to help?" That's the polite thing to offer in this situation, right? He was guessing as much; there wasn't as much experience for him to go off of as one might guess. He chopped the meat and started some water to boil while the Pokemon interacted, Leo humming softly to himself. As soon as the water was boiling, he took the wooden cutting board and held it over the water, letting the onions and cucumber fall in, cooking the raw vegetables. He made sure everything was off of the cutting board before he got the meat he had started on yet another cutting board, this time carefully slicing the smaller pieces into bite sized chunks. Then he trimmed off the fat, tossing it in a small bowl labeled 'useless useful thing'. He would find a use for all the fat he got today. Maybe boil it until all of the fibers were out and make some stretchy material. He had a bladder from a Stantler as a water sack for crying out loud, and the stomach of a Blastoise to store cooked food. Nice and stretchy, built to hold stuff in. Leo was a strong believer in using everything he could. That included the bones he got out, specially carved to act as precious knives. He then carefully trimmed away any bad pieces of the meat, before dunking them into the pot.
"You aren't a vegetarian, are you?" Oops, he forgot to ask. Then he smiled at the question. "Well, if you want to help, you can set the table. Plates and bowls are in that cabinet, silverware ion that one, cups in that one. Drinkable water is in that container." He pointed as he spoke, taking out a spoon carved from the femur of a bull Pokemon, the handle wrapped in leather. He stirred the pot and then put a lid on it, taking out a pan, putting oil on it. He chopped up more meat, more finely this time, and mixed it with spices. This would be their dinner. While he spiced the food, he looked back at Mimi. The Herdier was wagging his tail, happy at the other Pokemon that arrived. Aww. Leo smiled and kept working, putting the seasoned meat onto the pan, the sizzling noise making his stomach growl. Almost there.
